Creating rewarding careers through apprenticeships
For many, an apprenticeship can be the key to unlocking future career opportunities. Sempra Homes are committed to supporting its team through the range of apprenticeships on offer and providing the opportunity to earn while they learn.
This National Apprenticeship Week we meet 23 year old Project Manager Luke Rapley from Basildon, who started his apprenticeship with us aged 16 and is now embarking on a degree apprenticeship.
What made you consider the apprenticeship route
“I joined Basildon Council as a Business Administration Apprentice when I was 16 after finding out about the opportunity through the Basildon careers fair. I had considered continuing my studies at college but after learning more about the apprenticeship I felt this was the better fit for me.
“I was given the option to join different departments and decided on marketing and communications, where I spent a year before completing my Level 2 qualification. In the second year, I joined the customer service team where I continued with my Level 3 Business Admin apprenticeship, before moving into the Development Investment Team as Development Support Officer in 2018.
How has your career progressed through your apprenticeship
“I am part of the Development Investment Team where I work with both Basildon Council and Sempra Homes on all the development projects. It has been so rewarding and the apprenticeship has been the perfect route as I am able to gain qualifications and real life experience.
“As well as the two apprenticeship qualifications, Sempra Homes and Basildon Council have also supported me through my project management qualification and my degree apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying which I am currently studying part time at Anglia Ruskin University.”
