Proposals to build nine new homes on an underused site in Laindon have been given the go-ahead.

At a meeting last night (Wednesday 26th April), Basildon Council’s planning committee approved an application brought forward by Sempra Homes for a housing development in Pound Lane Central, Laindon.

The development, which will provide a total of nine new homes, will consist of 2 two-bedroom houses, 5 two-bedroom apartments and 2 one-bedroom apartments. The development will have a communal garden, dedicated bin store, as well as 17 parking spaces and a secure cycle store. All of the homes will be made available for Shared Ownership.

Melanie Keys, Manager of Sempra Homes, said: “These homes will be made available as Shared Ownership and will provide opportunity for residents to own a share in a property and pay an affordable rent on the remainder, with the option of buying more shares and eventually owning 100%. This will enable residents who would otherwise be unable to access the housing market to purchase a home of their own.”

Scott Logan, Chairman of Sempra Homes said: “ I am delighted that this scheme has been given planning permission and look forward to bringing these homes to the market.”
