New era for Basildon housing as Sempra Homes takes on new properties.

Families will move into brand new homes at Ballards Walk, Basildon when the first tranche of properties are handed over to Sempra Homes.

The homes – which will be offered to applicants from the council’s homeseeker register and provide much needed affordable housing - will be unveiled at an opening event on Friday 27 January.

The houses, developed by Redrow, are just the beginning for Sempra Homes with plans to develop more than 580 new homes in the next five years.

Cllr Phil Turner, Leader of Basildon Council, said: “These new homes represent the beginning of a new era in terms of house building in the borough. We will build hundreds more which will provide a springboard for first time buyers with a mix of shared ownership and market sale homes available and affordable rent homes to help applicants waiting on the homeseeker register.”

Cllr Anthony Hedley, Basildon Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Community Safety, said: “Sempra’s legacy will be more than bringing new homes to Basildon. It will also help improve communities. Sempra Homes will develop sites that have properties beyond economical repair and are no longer fit for purpose as well as under-utilised and dilapidated garage sites that attract anti-social behaviour.”

Scott Logan, Sempra Homes Chairman, added: “We are delighted to see the letting of these new homes to applicants from the council’s homeseeker register and look forward to bringing more homes to the market.”
