Plans for Shared Ownership homes in Billericay given the green light.

Sempra Homes planning application to provide new affordable housing was approved at Basildon Council’s planning committee on Tuesday 6th August 2019.

The plans will see a derelict care home in Billericay be demolished and replaced with 30 one and two bedroom apartments, along with 46 parking spaces and associated landscaping. All homes will be available to purchase for shared ownership with priority given to Basildon Borough key workers and residents.

The vacant care home, formerly known as the Rushcliffe care home, has been empty for several years and has fallen into disrepair. The building neighbours the current Council sheltered housing scheme Queens Park Court and as part of the plan a new communal hall and landscaped gardens will be provided to Queens Park Court for all of its residents to enjoy.

Melanie Keys, Sempra Homes Managers, said: “I am thrilled to achieve planning permission for this scheme which is a result of the teams hard work , and I look forward to delivering thirty new affordable homes for the borough whilst providing new facilities for the residents of Queens Park Court Sheltered scheme. We are working in partnership with Homes England to deliver these new homes all of which will be made available for shared ownership as part of the Help to buy scheme.
