Sempra Homes achieved planning permission at Basildon Council's planning committee last night (26th July 2023) for 26 brand new homes at its Tyefield development in Basildon.

The development, which will provide two- and three-bedroom houses, is located adjacent to the C16 Grade II listed Chalvedon Hall. The properties will be constructed using the fabric first approach, with the dwellings also being carefully designed to encourage solar gain where possible. The dwellings will feature PV panels to further improve energy efficiency, in addition to the provision of electric vehicles charging points as part of the overall development. All of the homes will also be built to meet the National Space & Secure by Design standard, whilst also having allocated parking bays along with visitor parking bays. .

In addition to the properties being built the design team have given careful consideration to enhance the setting of the listed Chalvedon Hall building and its pond area through the creation of new accessible pathways, new picnic and play areas will be brought forward as part of the new development. Bat and bird boxes, pollinator and aquatic planting and hedging will also be installed along with the provision of a new orchard in the closely located Northlands Park.

Melanie Keys, Sempra Homes Manager, said: "I'm pleased that our Tyefields development has obtained planning permission. The project team have worked hard over the past couple of years to bring this scheme forward so it's great that planning permission has now been achieved allowing Sempra to progress and bring forward much needed housing to the Basildon Borough and its residents."
